Rough Closeup was a rock band in Seattle, Washington. Now it is the name of Brandon Bye’s photography efforts.

The pandemic closed the bars, so my music-writing turned inward. After releasing one instrumental EP and two full-length instrumental albums under the name Echoes of Roar, I put down the guitar and picked up the camera. I haven't looked back.

I am currently in the process of making a book of photojournalism about poverty and civic control in America. Nate Gowdy and Lisa van Dam-Bates are on as editors. The book is expected to release in April 2025. More information coming soon.
